Newsletter  -  December  2007

The club’s last lesson before Christmas will be on Monday 17th December and the club will then resume training on Thursday 3rd January.

When the club returns in the New Year, Darel Rees will take over the role of club secretary and will collect the training fees at the start of each lesson.

Because of an increase in the cost of hiring the Awel-y-Mor centre, the cost of training sessions needs to rise to £3.50 per session. However, to try to balance this, we’re reducing the cost of paying in advance to £20 per calendar month, regardless of the number of lessons held. If you pay monthly, please try to ensure that fees are paid on the first week of the month, and that all cheques are made payable to PORTHCAWL S K C.

And finally, congratulations to the following club members:

Andrew Williams for getting his black belt.

Richard Davies for getting third place in the under 21 Kumite in the All Styles Open competition, getting a place on the Welsh squad, and for getting his black belt.

Pam Sinclair for getting fourth place in Kata, and second in the team Kata in the Welsh Championships.

Megan Lillycrop, for coming third in Kumite and first in team Kata in the Welsh Championships.

Leah Nicholas for coming second in Kumite and first in team Kata in the Welsh Chamionships.

Kathryn Sinclair for coming first in Kumite, and second in team Kata in the Welsh Chamionships.

Tara Sinclair for getting first place in Ippon Kumite in the KUGB Welsh Championships for the second year running, and for winning the Enoeda cup for an outstanding Kumite performance. She also got her black belt this year.

Owen Nicholas, for getting third place in the Shotokan Cup – the prestigious and hotly contested British Championship for brown and black belts. He also came first in team Kata in the Welsh Championships.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

We look forward to seeing you in the New Year.
